The collection consists of nine items, including six letters to Louis and Bryna Untermeyer: 16 Oct. 1974, about Erica Jong's visit, and his life in California; 25 Nov. 1974, looking forward to their impending visit, with advice on hotels; 24 June 1975, thanking Louis for his genorosity and introduction; 15 July 1975, appreciating some constructive criticism from Louis; 30 Oct. 1975, announcing the new Fast book, Time and the Riddle, with an introduction by Louis, will be arriving shortly; 11 Nov. 1975, with an anecdote about Billy Wilder reflecting on his book sales. Also, carbon of Louis's letter to Fast, 1 July 1975, saying he was happy to write the introduction, with some incisive comments about Fast's stories; printed letter to Fast from Howard Cameron, 27 June 1951, with congratulations for and specific analysis of Fast's Spartacus, along with his official general comments about the novel, which Cameron read for Little, Brown; copy of a printed letter from Fast, addresssed to Dear Librarians, 18 Jan. 1952, tracing the publication history of Spartacus, and the decision to publish it himself, quoting the Library Bill of Rights, closing with a request that they order the book from him.
